AEB is pleased to invite you to participate in the Business meeting titled, “Approaching post-Kyoto: opportunities and challenges for Russia”, which will be held on October 1st, 2010 from 09:00 until 13:00 (registration will start at 08:30) at the Hotel Marriott Tverskaya, Valdayskiy Conference Room, 1st Tverskaya – Yamskaya, 34, Moscow.
The business meeting is organized by the Safety, Health, Environment and Security, Energy and Energy Efficiency committees of the Association of European Businesses.
Climate change is one of the most significant challenges the humanity has faced, affecting the fundamentals of the economic, social, and political life across the world. Our efforts to confront climate change and adapt to its unavoidable impacts are challenged by the uncertainties in the scientific forecasts and the limitations in our understanding of the business, social and economic complexities of impact and response strategies. In December, 2009, almost World leaders gathered in Copenhagen to discuss the results of implementation of the Kyoto protocol and essential measures in order to prevent a major threat to the environment as a result of climate change, as well as develop new mechanisms for long-term response to global warming.
Thus, the aim of our business meeting in October, 2010 is to focus on the current situation in the field of Kyoto Protocol implementation; its further perspectives; mechanisms of financial support and business response to the present demands, as well as expectations from the post-Kyoto period. The business meeting will provide a platform for analysis and discussion of the implications of climate change issues on business, practicalities of carbon projects’ implementation, experiences of private companies and international financial organizations. Speakers include representatives of the Russian authorities, as well as experts from well-known European and Russian companies.
The working languages of the conference are English and Russian. Simultaneous translation will be provided.

Attendance fees
The registration fee for the Business meeting is 4,500 RUR (+ VAT 18%) for AEB members.
For non-members, the fee is 5,000 RUR (+ VAT 18%).
